Join Our Journey of Empathy and Unity: Solidarity Fast 2024
Welcome to our JustGiving campaign for the Solidarity Fast 2024, an event that symbolises our shared commitment to combating food insecurity and fostering a spirit of community. This year, we're excited to announce a unique collaboration, hosting our event in partnership with the Nottingham Forest Football Club at the City Ground. This gathering is more than just a fast; it's a beacon of hope, unity, and collective action.
In the month of Ramadan, we embark on a day of fasting to stand in solidarity with those who experience hunger as an everyday reality. Our fast is a powerful expression of empathy, a way to connect with the challenges faced by countless individuals and to reaffirm our dedication to making a difference in their lives.
- Members of the First Team will share a few words, inspiring us with stories of resilience, determination, and the power of collective effort.
- As the sun sets, we will come together to open the fast, sharing a meal that symbolizes our shared journey. The fast will be broken at approximately 18:20 and will be spent with Himmah and First Team players from the football club
- Attendees will also be treated to a special short tour of the city ground, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the heart and soul of the club.
How To Get Involved:
1. Commit to fasting with us on Tuesday the 19th of March and raise a minimum of £100. Embracing the spirit of empathy and solidarity.
2. Use this campaign to set up your personal fundraising page. Share your journey with friends, family, and colleagues, inviting them to support your effort.
3. Use the power of social media to raise awareness about the event and your fundraising efforts. Every share, like, and comment expands our reach and impact.
How To Fast:
Here's a brief guide on how to fast for the Solidarity Fast:
Nutritional Preparation:
- Suhoor (Pre-dawn meal): Eat a nutritious meal before dawn to sustain you through the day. Focus on including complex carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fluids. Foods like whole grain bread, brown rice, beans, eggs, nuts, and plenty of fruits and vegetables are ideal.
- Iftar (Meal to break the fast): We will break the fast together in the evening at Nottingham Forest. It's traditional to start with dates and water, followed by a balanced meal. The communal iftar will be a moment to enjoy a nutritious meal that replenishes your body after the day's fast.

Timing:
- Suhoor: Wake up for suhoor before dawn. In GMT, this will be around 4:30-5:30 AM, depending on the date and lunar calendar. It's wise to conclude your meal slightly before the beginning of Fajr to ensure you start fasting at the correct time.
- Iftar: The fast will be broken at sunset, which will be around 6:00-7:00 PM GMT in March. We will come together as a community at Nottingham Forest to share this special meal.
Fasting Tips:
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water between iftar and suhoor. Avoid caffeinated drinks as they can lead to dehydration.
- Moderate Activity: While fasting, engage in moderate activity and avoid strenuous exercise, especially if you are not accustomed to it while fasting.
- Rest and Reflect: Use the daylight hours for rest and reflection, embracing the spirit of the fast and the solidarity it represents.
- Communal Spirit: Remember, the fast is not just an individual endeavor but a communal one. It's about sharing the experience with fellow participants, supporting each other, and collectively breaking the fast at Nottingham Forest.
