People Make Himmah
At the heart of our organisation are the incredible people who make it all possible. From our passionate and dedicated staff to our committed volunteers and board members, we are a team of individuals who share a common goal: to create positive change in our community. We come from all walks of life, bringing with us unique perspectives and experiences that enrich our work and allow us to connect with a diverse range of people.
Whether it's serving meals at our food bank, running our school uniform project, or advocating for social justice, our team works tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of others. We believe that by working together, we can achieve great things and make our community a better place for everyone. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, and we look forward to welcoming you into our team!
Saj is Himmah’s Founder and Director and started the organisation when he saw a destitute asylum seeker trawling through bins for food. Since then, Saj committed to doing purpose-driven work overseeing Himmahs growth and has been a critical part in developing our projects and campaigns.
Jagdish is Himmah’s Head of Race, Arts and Heritage and has worked on issues related to anti-racism, social engagement, and working-class communities through the arts as well as social action work. Over the past few years, he has undertaken projects with people from the Gypsy Roma community, Asian football clubs, Muslim War Veterans, and Punjabi bar owners in the Black Country.
Naser worked in Housing for 15 years before moving to charitable fundraising. Nasser also spent time managing and developing a local radio station and joined Himmah in 2022 intending to make the organisation more resilient through purpose-driven fundraising.
